Tiananmen Square
The Tiananmen or Tian’anmen,literally the “Gate of Heavenly Peace”,is a famous monument in Beijing,the capital of the People’s Republic of China.It is widely used as a national symbol.First built during the Ming Dynasty in 1420,Tian’anmen is often referred to as the front entrance to the Forbidden City.However,the Meridian Gate (午门) is the first entrance to the Forbidden City proper,while Tiananmen was the entrance to the Imperial City,within which the Forbidden City was located.Tian’anmen is located along the northern edge of Tiananmen Square.
The Forbidden City
The the Imperial Palace of Beijing is the imperial palace of the two dynasties in Ming and Qing Dynasties, formerly known as the Forbidden City, located in the center of Beijings central axis. It is the cream of ancient Chinese palace architecture.
Beijing Palace Museum is centered on three main halls, covering an area of 720,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 150,000 square meters. It has more than 70 palaces and more than 9,000 houses. It is one of the largest and most complete ancient wooden structures in the world.

The Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven is located in southern Beijing.It was first constructed in 1420, the 18th year of the reign of Ming emperor Yongle, and was extended and renovated during the reigns of Ming Emperor Jiajing and Qing Emperor Qianlong. It was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would worship the god of heaven and pray for good harvest. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is a magnificent triple-gabled circular building, 36 meters in diameter and 38 meters tall, built on three levels of marble stone base, where the Emperor prayed for good harvests. The building is completely wooden.
